What is ALERT?

The ALERT (Aspects of Law and Ethics Related to Technology) research group (Middlesex University, London, United Kingdom) focuses on theoretical and applied research into the mutual effects of law and ethics on technology. This therefore includes:

• Research on legal and ethical issues of concern associated with technology use (e.g. the Internet, information systems, personal devices)
  
  
• Research on how technology impacts on law and ethics

Areas of research interest include: Health IT, new and emerging technologies (e.g. machine learning, blockchain, data science), cybercrime, digital forensics; privacy and data protection; fintech and vulnerable consumers; intellectual property rights.
